About Laboratory

Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) Laboratory

The Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) Laboratory posits in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Tarbiat Modares University of Tehran, and is directed by Dr. Ali Jafarian. The CFD Lab was established in 1995 by Dr. Ghassem Heidarinejad, and the laboratory focuses on performing multi researches in the numerical simulations of various fields. For instance, combustion, thermal comfort, Biofluids, multiphase flows, machine learning, optimization of various systems, molecular dynamics, and so on. To this end, the CFD Lab is a state-of-the-art research facility dedicated to computational systems.

The CFD Lab features a vest number of computational computers. These computers are used to conduct a variety of research and industrial projects applicating in the various industries and domestic consumptions. The numerical simulation projects have been performed in CFD Lab by various powerful computational software such as ANSYS Fluent, OpenFoam, COMSOL, Energy +, OpenStudio, ANSYS CFX, and so on.

As said, our research efforts over the years have focused on computational investigations of various researchs. Some of performed research topics are listed below:

  1. 1) Hybrid Cooling System
  2. 2) Air Conditioning of satellites and domestic consumptions
  3. 3) Investigating Pollutant in tunnels
  4. 4) Fuel spray in IC Engines and Diesel injector nozzle
  5. 5) Air Flow over buildings
  6. 6) Turbulent flows and combustion by RANS and LES modeling
  7. 7) Electro Hydro Dynamic (EHD) effects on heat and mass transfer of cooling systems
  8. 8) Fuel Cells Modeling
  9. 9) Compressible and incompressible flows

The CFD Lab aims to have practical projects with various industries and universities in order to improve the development level of the industry and economy of the country associating with boosting its knowledge.
