Emeritus Lab Head

Dr. Ghassem Heidarinejad

Dr.Heidarinejad

Ghassem Heidarinejad is a professor emeritus at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Tarbiat Modares, Tehran, Iran. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT in 1989. His book Advanced Fluid Mechanics with his other works namely Physical and Hydraulic Modeling and Turbulence cover almost all of students’ basic needs in the field of fluidic phenomena at the graduate level. He has also written five further books on other thermo-fluid subjects.

Professor Heidarinejad taught topics such as Advanced Fluid Mechanics, Turbulence, Advanced Numerical Methods, Large Eddy Simulation (LES), and other related subjects. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers in well-known journals and has delivered hundreds of presentations at conferences. He has supervised theses and dissertations of around 30 Ph.D. and 75 M.Sc. students. He has a wide range of recent research interests including but not limited to: Fires, Protection of City Tunnels against Pollution and Fire, Biomechanics, and Green Buildings. To reduce cooling energy consumption in buildings in Iran, a multi-climate country, Professor Heidarinejad has focused on developing low-energy hybrid cooling systems that utilize a variety of heat sources such as geothermal, nocturnal, and solar combined with direct and/or indirect evaporative coolers.

Prof. Khaleghi contributed to a vast number of ISI papers during his scientific and research activities in the fields of multi-phase spray modeling in IC Engine flows and Fuel Cell modeling. DurinIn these years, Dr. Khaleghi took several executive and scientific responsibilities as represented below for a few mentions:

  1. 1) Deputy minister for higher education in the Ministry of Science Research and Technology
  2. 2) Director General for Higher Education Planning and Development
  3. 3) Scientific Adviser to Iranian PhD Students in Australia and New Zealand
  4. 4) Representative of the Ministry of Science Research and Technology in several Scientific committees
  5. 5) Deputy Vice Chancellor for Educational Affairs at Tarbiat Modares University

Prof. Khaleghi works widely in the field of Computational Fluid dynamics (CFD) research. and fuel sprays in Internal combustion engines. He has been teaching courses in Advanced Numerical Analysis and CFD at Tarbiat Modars University, Amirkabir University of Technology, and some other state universities. In addition, he also works on modeling gas/liquid flows, turbulent combustion modeling, direct numerical simulations of turbulent flows, nanofluid mechanics, and fuel cell modeling. By supervising more than 90 M.Sc students and 15 Ph.D. students working in various subjects, he has contributed to more than 120 Journal and conference papers.
